As the long weekend approaches, and the end of my work day is near, I'm taking a moment to think about what it is I'm REALLY thankful for right here, right now in my life. I can actually do this in the order of the things I'm doing this weekend. Tonight, to kick it off, I'm having dinner with my girlfriends from high school, & old jobs etc. These gals have been in my life for more than 25 years, and we're still just as giddy and silly as we were all those years ago. I'm so lucky to have these friendships going strong after so much change in all our lives - through marriages, through breakups, through children being born - we're all still here for each other. I am very thankful for this.
Tomorrow & Sunday, my fiance is taking me out of town. First some shopping in the States (starting our Christmas lists early) and then Sunday to an NFL game. So much that I love here - obviously my fiance, someone I've also known for 25 years though didn't actually start speaking to until a year ago. What an amazing human being, constantly making me become a better human being, what's not to love and be thankful for there? And then there's shopping, well, hello, I'm a woman, good call on that. And then football on a Sunday afternoon. Kinda perfect. I just know there will be silliness, love, fun, and great memories made this weekend with me and my love.
Monday we drive back home, and I pick up what I'd say is that one person who I am truly, completely, and utterly thankful for. That one person who, 8 years ago, suddenly made life make sense. My little boy, my son. We'll get back home Monday night, have a late Thanksgiving dinner together, and snuggle up on the couch under a blanket and watch a movie. Talk about a perfect weekend. Actually, never mind just the weekend. Talk about a perfect life. And it's all mine. :)
